What is a Web and Graphic Designer?

I'm sure you're wondering, what is a web and graphic designer? What is the difference between the two and what do they do?

In this blog post, I'm going to explain to you what is a web designer and what is a graphic designer. I know you must think they are the same but they're not. They both are very similar and can create the same things but different to an extent. Let's jump into learning about web and graphic designers.

WHAT IS A WEB DESIGNER?

A web designer is someone who designs the look and feel of a website. This would be creating images and designing page layouts for a website or eCommerce store. Web designers commonly use hypertext, HTML, CSS, and additional web design tools.

A web designer will often manipulate actual HTML coding. HTML is the common source code for a web page. Other kinds of coding are added into an HTML document to promote advanced functionality.  Other kinds of coding are added into an HTML document to promote advanced functionality. Different kinds of tools can help to auto-produce HTML that will result in a specific design format. A web designer may also use Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to create a unified style and color scheme throughout an entire website.

Web designers are often proficient in various higher-level programming languages used to create scripts for the Web. Many of them also focus on the ability to create good-looking sites that will display well on a range of browsers and devices.

My focus as a Web Designer is to focus on creating and designing a website for my clients. Throughout my process, I work directly with my clients to create something that will reflect their brand on their own website and/or eCommerce store.

WHAT IS A GRAPHIC DESIGNER?

A graphic designer is someone who can create visual concepts by hand or by using a computer software. They are able to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, and captivate consumers. Graphic design combines art and technology to create images for advertisements, social media, websites, print, and any other design project they decide to work on.

Graphic designers work with both text and images. They will select the type, font, size, color, and line length of headlines, headings, and text. Graphic designers also decide how images and text will go together on printed items or on a website. Through the use of images, text, and color, graphic designers can create nothing into a visual graphic.

Some graphic designers specialize in particular categories. For example, some create graphics to be used on social media, some create graphics only for printed items, and some create graphics for only websites. As a graphic designer, I create and design graphics that can be used on a website, social media, and printed items such as shirts, mugs, business cards, invitations, etc.
